PE Protective Film

A surface-protection film made from polyethylene (PE) with pressure-sensitive adhesive — non-toxic, flexible and removes cleanly. Available in Clear / Blue / Gray, Plain / Embossed mesh, and Water-based / Acrylic / Solvent adhesives, plus static-adsorption, anti-static (ESD) and thick cutting-film grades. Thickness 3C–15C (0.03–0.15 mm), tack 5–300 g.

Songyang's PE protective film is selected by color, texture and adhesive system to match the protected surface. Smooth, glossy surfaces (high-gloss panels, PVC) use low tack; rough or hard-to-stick surfaces (metal, coated parts) use medium-high tack. Embossed mesh vents air and prevents bubbles on curved and glossy parts. We also supply non-coated static-adsorption film for glass/acrylic screens and surface anti-static (ESD) film for electronics, plus 13C/15C thick cutting film for CNC, engraving and stamping. Production runs in-house at Songyang's Dongguan, China plant — compounding, coating, converting and slitting across 16 production lines — so international buyers source PE protective film factory-direct instead of through a trading layer.

PE Protective Film Range

Songyang grades PE protective film along three dimensions — color, texture and adhesive system — and adds three special constructions: adhesive-free static-adsorption film, surface anti-static (ESD) film and 13C/15C thick cutting film. Values below are typical; confirm the exact specification with our sales team before application.

Transparent so the substrate color stays visible, with a plain gloss surface that lies flat and peels away cleanly. One backing, three adhesive systems:

  • Water-based: low odor and eco-friendly; thickness 3C / 5C / 6C / 7C / 8C / 10C / 13C / 15C; low, medium and high tack (3C comes in low and high; 5C in low, medium and high)
  • Acrylic: 5C; stronger bond and more stable holding; tack 10 / 20 / 40 / 80 g plus high-tack 150 / 300 g — for hard-to-bond surfaces, metal and electronics assembly
  • Solvent-based: 8C / 10C / 13C; high initial tack and good wetting, grips porous and hard-to-bond surfaces

Known in the trade as blue film, this water-based PE film is easy to spot on the line, preventing mix-ups and forgotten removal. It is the standard choice for aluminum profiles, windows and doors, stainless steel and color-steel panels.

  • Plain blue film: 3C / 5C, low / medium / high tack, flat gloss lamination
  • Mesh blue film: 4.5C, about 20 g, air-venting mesh — identification plus bubble-free lamination

An acrylic-bonded film with an embossed mesh structure, 4.5C (0.045 mm) thick, in four tack grades: 5 / 12 / 30 / 120 g. The mesh channels let air escape as the film is laminated, so large areas go on without trapped bubbles — which is why it is preferred on high-gloss and mirror finishes, sprayed parts, and curved or irregular shapes where plain film would trap air.

  • Thickness: 4.5C (0.045 mm)
  • Tack: 5 / 12 / 30 / 120 g (peel force, per specification)
  • Use: high-gloss mirror surfaces, sprayed parts, curved and irregular shapes

This grade carries no adhesive at all: the film clings to smooth, clean surfaces by its own static charge, and peels away cleanly — there is no adhesive layer to leave behind. Thickness 3C / 5C / 8C / 10C. Typical uses are glass, acrylic, screens, optical lenses and instrument panels — surfaces that mark easily and must stay uncontaminated.

  • Thickness: 3C / 5C / 8C / 10C (per specification)
  • Appearance: identical to clear plain PE film — the difference is the missing coating
  • Use: glass, acrylic, screens, optical parts, instrument panels

Do not confuse the two: static-adsorption film clings by physical static and has no anti-static (ESD) function. Anti-static film (the gray grade below) is adhesive-coated and carries a surface ESD function that dissipates charge.

The gray grade carries a surface anti-static (ESD) function that dissipates accumulated charge, protecting electronic components, PCBs and LCD modules from static damage. The gray color doubles as material identification on the line. Standard specification is 5C (0.05 mm) at about 10 g low tack; other thicknesses and tack levels can be customized.

  • Standard spec: 5C (0.05 mm), about 10 g low tack

At 13C (0.13 mm) and 15C (0.15 mm) the film is stiff and strong enough to run as cutting film — also called engraving film or CNC cutting film. It protects the sheet surface from scratching, chipping and contamination during CNC cutting, laser and engraving work, stamping and bending, then peels away cleanly after processing. Typical materials: acrylic, PC, light-guide plates, metal sheets (stainless steel, aluminum), glass and stone.

  • Thickness: 13C / 15C (stiff thick film)
  • Colors / adhesive: clear or blue; water-based or acrylic (per specification)

Rule of thumb: the smoother and more delicate the surface, the lower the tack; the rougher and harder to bond, the higher. Texture and tack are independent dimensions and can be combined freely.

FAQ

Common Questions

Who is Songyang and where is your PE protective film factory?
Dongguan Songyang New Material Technology Co., Ltd. is a China-based manufacturer of specialty adhesive tapes and protective films, based in Houjie, Dongguan, Guangdong. Songyang has worked in the industry since 1998 — 28 years — and operates a 9,000+ m² facility with 16 production lines, 5,000+ product specifications and 5,600+ customers served. Songyang coats PE protective film at this Dongguan plant and supplies metal, panel, glass and electronics processors worldwide.
What thickness and tack do you offer?
Songyang's PE protective film runs from 3C to 15C (0.03–0.15 mm), with tack from about 5 g (low) to 300 g (high). Tell Songyang's sales team your substrate and process and the grade will be proposed.
Do you make static-adsorption and anti-static PE film?
Yes — Songyang produces non-coated static-adsorption film for glass, acrylic and screens (no adhesive - the film clings by static alone) and surface anti-static (ESD) gray PE film, standard 5C at about 10 g low tack, for electronics, PCB and static-sensitive parts.
Can PE film be used as cutting film?
Yes — Songyang supplies 13C and 15C thick PE film as cutting, engraving and stamping protection film for CNC and machining, where the thicker film cushions the sheet surface during processing.
Can I customize width, color, printing and packaging?
Yes — Songyang slits PE protective film from 3 mm to 1,300 mm wide (subject to product model) and supports custom colors, printed text, private-label cores, labels and cartons.
What are the sample and production lead times?
Samples typically take 5–30 days depending on the specification — consult Songyang's sales team for the exact schedule on your model. Bulk production then runs on 16 lines at Songyang's Dongguan plant, with the timeline confirmed in your quotation.
